Upon Arrival:
Our plants come to you bareroot or in the form of a bulb; packed in peat moss. No tops left on Plants. These are dug fresh daily and tops taken back for transport to reduce risk to the plants. Plant as soon as possible. It is important to keep the roots/bulbs cool and moist while you are waiting to plant. If you cannot plant right away, store in refridgerator (34-38 degrees) or in a dark, cool place.
Site Preparation & Planning:
Remove all weeds and grasses-existing weeds compete with new plants for water, sun and nutrients. A more natural appearance will be achieved if plants are grouped by species or scattered randomly as opposed to planting in rows. Large plants need spacing of 1-2 ft apart, medium need 1 ft, and smaller need 6-12 inches. plant just below surface with the bud side upright position.
Planting Time:
Planting time best on an overcast day and cool. If you plant in full sun, keep the plants in shaded area or in bucket with some water-this is especially important with fiberous roots.
Watering:
It is best to water your transplants as soon as planting as possible. If you are planting in a large area, stop periodically to water water youve planted, especially on warm dry days. If planting in the early spring or in the fall, alot of watering may not be needed. Moist to the touch. If planting april-summer, water thoroughly.
